Pop-ups on this site

Pop-ups on this site

I just browsed through the new threads and ended up with 15 pop-up windows (thats more pop-ups than new threads)
Now I know some smart alec is gonna say "use a pop-up-ad blocker" but I dont want to and shouldnt have to.
Not only is there 4 ad banners on the pages which IMO is acceptable even if a little over the top but I have to contend with pop-ups.
Surely these forums would get a lot more return visitors if the pop-up's were not here.

Why do you not want to use a pop-up stopper? They're free and use almost no CPU resources at all. It takes you longer to complain about the pop-ups than it would just to install a stopper icon_rolleyes.gif

EDIT: And I'm not a smart alec......just stating the facts. Pop-ups are a major part of the net now....no getting around that.

Hey there fellow,

Is that problem still active regarding the pops?
We have reduced some, so...
Let me know,

Well I just read the forums again and replyed to 1 and have 13 of them sitting here.

As for your reply Auburn, surely it is my choice not to like all the pop-ups that appear and my right to comment on them.
If I came here and got 1 or 2 from browsing 20 or so pages then I wouldnt be saying nothing but to get 1 from every page I visit is IMO a bit over the top.

My comment is mainly regarding return visitors, for a site to progress or move forward it should be user friendly and the site should be an enjoyable experience, not be overwhelmed or inundated by pop-ups.

sure, your critic is appreciated. i don't think we have so many ads on the page though... could it be your comp? some nasty adware?

can anybody else confirm dozens of ads? (not me, I'm protected by Mozilla Firebird)

I use pop-up stopper and It never blocks anything while I'm here, maybe 1 or 2 but not many at all. Sounds like it could be spyware on his comp.

Yes, must be, since we can max get 2 pops per user per 24hrs!

We try to do everything we can on pops, but you must know that the ad market is very slow and we cannot tell all of our advertisers to not use any pops inside their banner scripts. also you must think about the fact that we want to give you visitors the max amount of download and news from our site, so with that in mind, i think we do it pretty good, for free news!

There is no spryware or ad ware on my machine, I run spybot and adaware every 2-3 days.

The above ads were generated from the forum main page, and 3 threads.

Dont think im bitchin cause im not, im just commenting on the amount I get.

I get lots of pop-ups here also, but I don't have this problem on any other board I visit.

Funny... I visit this site and I get *no* popups. I don't have any pop-up blockers, but I do run spybot regularly. Strange... does anybody else get no popups?
