Advanced Micro Devices will not only unveil desktop version of its Athlon 64 processors, but will also launch a number of mobile 64-bit CPUs for the hardware geeks on the run. According to the information obtained from AMD distributors, the mobile Athlon 64 3000+ processors will not cost significantly more compared to the desktop brethren.
The “Hammer” for DTR notebooks will consume less power and will function at lower core-clocks than versions for desktops. The prices of a processor with 3000+ model number for distributors is expected to be around $300, while the ready-to-go mobile computer with AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 256MB of PC2700 RAM, ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600 with 128MB DDR SDRAM, CD-RW/DVD combo drive, 40GB HDD, Windows XP Home Edition and other important devices inside will cost roughly $1800 - $2000.
