Last month, we posted an announcement made by Sony and Toshiba (one of the two Sony’s partners for the PlayStation 3) telling the world that trial production of chips (the cell) using a 65-nanometer manufacturing process would begin this March, with commercial production of the final chips expected for summer 2005.
In that story we also suggested that the Xbox 2 CPU could also be a 65-nm part since both Sony and Microsoft are going head-to-head for the next round in “The Console Wars.”
Today we can confirm that the Xbox 2 CPU will also be built using a 65-nanometer manufacturing process.

How's work on UT2004 progressing?
Cliffy B: The last 5% of a game is the hardest and that rule is holding true for UT2004. The game is all there, it's intact, it's fun, but chasing down and squashing all of those annoying bugs is truly a difficult task. There's so much in this game; it really is an enormous toy chest of gaming fun. We want to make sure it is a solid, stable, balanced gaming delight.

With the funniest duo in PC history set to grace our screens once more, LucasArts explains why sides will be splitting.
They're back. Tumbling out of the mystery vortex and on to our hard drives, Sam and Max, perennial slapstick/wisecrack heroes and investigators of obscure Americana, are about to jam their wet noses straight back into our lives.
We cornered Michael Stemmle, director of all Sam & Max-related activities at LucasArts, offered him a box of Snuckies Pecan Candy and a sample of Sasquatch hair and he had all this to say...
How would you describe Sam & Max: Freelance Police to someone who hasn't heard of the dog and rabbit crime-fighting duo before?
Stemmle: Sam is a dog. He wears a suit, and has been known to play the banjo... Badly. Max is a naked, hyperkinetic rabbity thing. Together, they upset the apple cart of crime as the Freelance Police, a vaguely sanctioned, rarely discussed branch of the criminal justice system.

An update on Multi Theft Auto has news they received from Rockstar debunking the recent suggestion that the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto life-of-crime series would be GTA4: Sin City (story). They are reporting that the sub-title is incorrect, as is the projected 5 November 2004 release date, though they admit the release date is "close." All this supports theories that Amazon.co.uk's GTA4 listing was actually inspired by the April Fool's joke on Shacknews (story).

"Amazon.co.uk has posted a pre-order page for Grand Theft Auto IV: Sin City. There's not much there, and what is should be taken with a grain of salt, but the listing offers a release date of 5 November, 2004 for the PS2 version, which, if accurate, tells us that a bunch of gamers as well as the litigious Jack Thomson will all be busy next holiday season."
