Dell has released a new Detonator driver 44.10 for Win2000 and XP. Some of the files included say that this is version 44.10 for the nVidia QuadroFX 500. No further notes found.

A software maker that specializes in tools for measuring performance of PC components has accused graphics chip giant Nvidia of manipulating test results for its latest graphics chip.
Saratoga, Calif.-based Futuremark on Friday said in a statement that Nvidia tweaked software needed to run its new GeForce FX 5900 processor to distort performance in Futuremark's 3DMark 03 testing application. Futuremark is one of the leading independent providers of software and services for performing PC "benchmark" tests.

A new nForce Driver for Windows XP is available for download. New in this release:
- May 22 update: removed nForce IDE driver in the 2.42 kit
- WHQL certified kit for nForce and nForce2
- Includes support for nForce2 400 and nForce2 Ultra 400
- Update audio performance fixes for EAX supported games
- Update audio control panel
Windows XP users must install Service Pack 1 prior to attempting to install this package. Failure to do so will result in the inability to support USB 2.0.
Audio drivers will not install on the following nForce2 products: Chaintech 7NJS. Please use the drivers that come with these products to enable audio functionality.

The graphics card industry is certainly full of surprises and excitement as there are often lots of unexpected twists and turns, ups and downs. From the point of view of the consumers, this is definitely very exciting and it is pretty obverse now there are more discussions on GPU architectures and drivers than CPU. Consumers are clearly enjoying the "shows" put up by the manufacturers as newer generations of graphics chips are launched faster than before as we are beginning to enter the "Cinematic" era. As for the GPU makers, the pace of graphics technology is clearly advancing at an alarming rate and development cycles have shortened compared to the past years and risks of product misses and failures are increasingly. The best example to be quoted will be the graphics leader NVIDIA where their NV30 failed to deliver on time and lacking in performance as well and this allows ATi to gain an upper hand over the past 8 months.

THE NVIDIA CHIPSET business has ruled the roost for the last few months which is just as well given its high end graphics business has been down in the dumps for a little while now.
Nforce 2 seems to be one juicy plum cake for Nvidia and especially now with its "new" Nforce 2 Ultra 400 version just improved original one introduced to the market late last year.
Still this new Nforce is not all that Nvidia has to say about Athlon platform since FSB 400 FSB may likely to be last stop of this CPU unless AMD64 Hammer gets further delayed.

We received some information from Extremetech about the fact that it turns out, though, that the disparate 3DMark03 scores may have a different root cause: our test results seem to indicate that nVidia is boosting its 3DMark game test scores by cutting corners in the 44.03 DetonatorFX driver we used for testing.
We discussed our findings with nVidia before we published this article, and the company's Direct3D driver team is currently investigating the problem. At press time, the company's engineers believe that the anomalies we're seeing are the result of a driver bug.
nVidia believes that the GeForceFX 5900 Ultra is trying to do intelligent culling and clipping to reduce its rendering workload, but that the code may be performing some incorrect operations. Because nVidia is not currently a member of FutureMark's beta program, it does not have access to the developer version of 3DMark2003 that we used to uncover these issues.
